Another busy week... the good news is that my husband and I re-started going to the gym but the downside is that leaves very little time for crafts and blogs. I did manage to get some time in this weekend and I started at TIME OUT for their current challenge - here is the photo:
There is a lot going on in this photo - lots of places to take inspiration - but my eye was immediately drawn to the wooden NOEL on the shelf. Until a little bit less than a year ago, I was living in Montreal, and I spent the better part of my day in French. There is very little French in the area where we live now, and I really miss it - and I'm probably getting quite rusty! So the NOEL in the picture inspired me to make a card for one of my French speaking friends in Montreal.
The panel is a shimmery, textured cream cardstock, and I added the chipboard letters (they are some K & Company letters that I have had forever). I die cut the pine needles from some green cardstock, and the pine cones from brown cardstock. The pine cones are also embossed in the die cutting process but I decided that I wanted to add something more so I sponged some Versamark through the die onto the raised areas of the cones and heat embossed with some Enchanted Gold powder. I glued everything down with some multi-medium. I heat embossed the Joyeux onto some vellum with gold powder and wrapped the vellum around the corner of the panel. The panel was then mounted onto a cream card.
I will link this to the TIME OUT challenge.

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, Jill, this is beautiful ... you've captured the essence of the inspiration photo so beautifully with the bold Noel and the garland of pine! Those gold highlighted cones are just gorgeous! So delighted you played along with us at Time Out! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThe 'noel' was the first thing that caught my eye too! Those letters are coloured perfectly and just love your die-cut pine needles and cones, they give such a lot of texture to the card. Its just stunning and I'm so very glad you were able to join us at TIME OUT!
ReplyDeleteThis is another beauty, Jill! Love the textures, that gorgeous Noel and your die cut foliage. A great take on the inspiration photo. I am so glad that you took Time Out from the gym to play along with us :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I am 1.5 hours east of MTL, and french is all around and I have NO french stamps :( I really need some. This card has inspired me to purchase some. i LOVE the NOEL!! love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment! If you are ever in Montreal, I highly recommend Scrapbook Centrale (located in Dollard-des-Ormeaux) - they sell a great variety of stamps - both French and English!
DeleteBeautifully done!! Lovely interpretation of the photo - thanks so much for sharing this fabulous card with us at Time Out :)
ReplyDeleteI swear I remember commenting on your card a week or two ago, Jill...because your card jumped at me from the TO gallery! I love that cream (looks like silver too!) shimmering background and the die-cut pine needles and pine cones!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again! This is amazing take on the challenge's inspiration photo. I love the earth tone colors of this card. Well done!
