I have to confess that I have never made Halloween cards in the past - I love the holiday but have never integrated it into cards
Here is what I came up with:
The letters are from Simon Says and were stamped on watercolour paper. I used Distress markers to colour the letters (Twisted Citron) and the background (Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves). I added a few more stamps - the cat is from Clearly Besotted, the spider is from Fiskars and the greeting and faces are from Lil Inkers.
To pumpkin or not to pumpkin?
I was quite happy with my first ever Halloween card but my husband really insisted that it needed a pumpkin so I added one - here is the updated version:
What do you think - pumpkin or not?
So now it's your turn to create a CAS Hallowwen card - that could incorporate a pumpkin (or not!) but before you do, please check out the amazing work of the Design Team.
Thanks for stopping by!
Jill
Mmm, difficult decision. Think I'm going for the first version, just that little bit more CAS. Loving that inking and shading, really atmospheric!
ReplyDeleteYes I'm the same with Halloween cards too. I think the pumpkin should stay...it balances the card, but maybe not quite so CAS x Loving the blending, colouring etc and the spooky faces in the lettering x
ReplyDeleteHey do you know what I prefer without the pumpkin but both are fab Jill! Love the brilliant watercolour BG - adds to that totally spooky feel! Superber images and great card. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a great Halloween card!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going no pumpkin but I really like both. Those SSS letters are great - I've had my eyes on those for a while. AND I love the background. Also you have Blueprint Sketch and Twisted Citron. Jealous. I was waiting for the little 4 pack of ink cubes coming out and then they sold out. Darn it. Great card - my favourite part is the O with the eyes :D

ReplyDeleteI like both versions. :) I really like your coloring of the background. I think that it's fun that your husband gives you input on your cards. I like it when my husband does that. :)
ReplyDeleteFun text and I l;ove the way you coloured and brought all together with the subtile background! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeletegreat halloween card, love the background
ReplyDeleteI love making Halloween cards, and I love this first one for you. I personally prefer the one without the pumpkin, though the pumpkin does give it a great splash of color. Love the inking you did and the extra embellishments of the cat and spider. Your "o"'s are wonderful as well. Check my game #51 card. You will laugh.
ReplyDeleteJill, your debut Halloween card is a spook-tacular knockout! Cool background, "scary" sentiment, fabulous black cat (isn't that CB set fun!) and, of course, your sweet pumpkin (my husband often gives me crafting advice - and it's pretty good)! Totally wonderful! Thank you for your visiting and leaving a sweet comment on my blog. Nope, don't live in Toronto, but I am a fellow Canadian, just 'down the road' a bit in Canmore, Alberta. Tonight's game...oh my! VERY excited!
