I thought about celebrating by completing some of my unfinished scrapbook pages from a couple of years ago but I decided to make some cards instead :)
Here is the first card - the technique used is a masked glitter over acetate technique that was shown in OCC Clear and Sheer - I have been dying to try it since I saw the video and this week's Merry Monday Glitter and Ombre challenge seemed the perfect opportunity to do it. I used the MFT Snowflake Fusion cover up die as my mask and applied three colours of Wow glitter to create the ombre effect. I love the microfine glitter a lot more than the Wow but I didn't have the right colours. I added the die cut greeting (stacked up) from W+9 cut from silver foil card stock. I just love the see-through panel and how it sparkles in real life!
I will link up to the following challenges
- Merry Monday - Glitter and Ombre
- MFT Sketch Challenge:
The second card I am sharing uses the adorable Simon Says Furry Cat and Box stamp. I used a double masking technique to create the background using Peacock Feather and Twisted Citron Distress Inks (I had no idea they would so good together!). I then coloured the image with Copics and added some red sequin hearts. I finished the card by adding a die cut circle frame (from MFT) and a greeting strip across the bottom (the strip is actually to cover up a badly stamped greeting but I really like the effect :) The "home" and "congratulations" are from the Clearly Besotted Sentimental set.
I will link this card to the following challenges:
- Addicted to Stamps and More - where the challenge is Make Your Mark
- CAS-Ology where the key word is MOVE - this may be a stretch but I actually made this card for a cat to congratulate him on being adopted and moving into his new home (which happened to be owned by some of my good friends!) - silly but true!
So now off to continue celebrating NSD in my craft room
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Jill
