This week's challenge at Time Out is theme challenge - we are looking for your holiday cards. There is an optional twist in this challenge too - we are challenging you not to use any stamping (except for the greeting) on your card. We are very lucky to have Uniko Studio as our sponsor this week - and they are offering a £15 gift voucher to a random participant who participates and does the optional twist!
We also have another wonderful guest designer with us this week, Aileen from Colour and Sparkle is a regular Time Out player and always has creative ideas and beautiful cards.
Here is my take on the challenge:
I decided to do a Christmas card - and to twist. I used my Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia die and matching embossing folder to cut the flower from some red cardstock. I added a little bit of Candied Apple Distress ink to it after it was embossed - but I don't think there was enough of a difference to the base colour so it doesn't really show - I think that if I were to redo this card, I would use a darker ink for more effect. The poinsettia was put together using lots of foam squares - so this card has lots of dimension - the gold in the flower centre is some crushed glass that I added with some Glossy Accents. I used some other gold accents on the card to complement the centre of the flower - a couple of strips of foil cardstock, a Penny Black sentiment die cut from the same cardstock, and the word Christmas (from MFT) embossed n gold on a piece of vellum. The white embossed panel on the card was created using a Taylored Expressions embossing folder.
This Tattered Poinsettia die/embossing folder is one of my favourites and I use it regularly for Christmas cards - the only downside is that it is not so mail friendly.
I can't wait to see what everyone will come up with for this challenge - looking forward to seeing your creations at Time Out!
Thanks for stopping by!
