We are starting September at TIME OUT with a very seasonally-appropriate Inspired By Words Challenge:
“Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
Chad Sugg
And we are lucky enough to have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge: CAS-ual Fridays has very generously offered the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher!!!!
As always, we are equally lucky to be joined by a wonderful guest designer, Rema from Paper Panache is so creative and always has gorgeous cards.
Here is my card:
I thought of leaves changing colours - and my MFT Out On A Limb die set. I started out by applying some orange, red and yellow alcohol inks to a sheet of glossy cardstock to make my own patterned paper for the leaves. I then used my Minc machine to add some platinum foil to a piece of Heidi Swapp paper and a greeting that I printed onto my card base. I then die cut the leaves and the tree trunk from these papers and used a template to glue the the pieces onto the card front.
The design was pretty simple but I liked it so much that I decided to make 3 more, and some matching envelopes to create a card gift set.
Finally, I really liked the look of the die cut alcohol inked cardstock so I added some Be Creative adhesive behind it and applied some iridescent glitter to the openings. I used the same foil to cover a W&W die cut greeting and on a piece of vellum.
So you can see how inspired I was by these words - I can't wait to see where they take you!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Jill, your projects are amazing! Love, love, love! Love the shine.
ReplyDeletewow Jill what creative cards and totally amazing look. I love the mix of the inks to create the leaves and the foil looks fab with this colour. The middle of the sentiment in the first looks black, looks like you mixed this, so effective, you should enter this first card into the blended challenge at AAA. And adore how you created 2 more stunning cards, showing how you can adapt to all different styles.
ReplyDeleteStunning work, Jill! I'm glad you showed us the detailed photos -the alcohol ink bg leaves and the patterned paper tree trunks look just amazing. I also love how you used the "leftovers" -very creative and with so elegant results! Wow!
ReplyDeleteSuper how you used your own beautifully made paper in so many ways! All the cards look so stunning! Love the colours you used and to use that paper for the trunk is something you really have to have "an eye" for... Hope you had a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteElegant, stylish and so beautiful, Jill ... love how you used the negative space from those leaves to create another beauty ... it's gorgeous! Hugs, Anita :)
