TIME OUT #66 - Photo Inspiration

It is time for a new Time Out Challenge, and this week we are being inspired by this pretty picture:

We have a great sponsor this month - STAMPlorations is sponsoring the challenge - the winner will receive a $10 gift voucher to their store AND there will be two random draws for stamp sets Trendy Leaves 2 and Holiday Expressions: Thankful.

We are also lucky enough to have Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap with us as a guest designer this week - her cards are beautiful so please check them out!

Here is how I was inspired - using STAMPlorations Trendy Leaves set:

I was really inspired by the couple of coloured leaves against the black and white leaves so that is what I wanted to do in my card. I masked a circle on the card front, and stamped the leaf from Trendy  Leaves in some yellow, orange and yellow inks. I then stamped the same leaf repeatedly in SSS Fog and Smoke inks - masking the leaves as I went along. I traced the leaves with a black Copic multiliner to make them pop a little bit more before colouring the background with Copics. To make the coloured leaf pop even more, I coloured over it with a Versamark pen, and heat embossed some Enchanted Gold EP over it - it adds the perfect amount of golden shimmer! I used some MFT dies to create the stitched circle frame, and a Your Next Stamp die to add the stitching line across the bottom of the card. The greeting is from Clearly Besotted.

Because I can never decide on colours, I also did the same card but created a darker background by using darker shades of Copics - small change but big difference in the overall feel of the card....

So how will you be inspired? We can't wait to see at Time Out!

Thanks for stopping by!
Jill

  1. I hadn't noticed those top leaves until you made this, love how we all pick something out different. Plus I didn't know there was a versamarker pen..,what a great tool (will have to buy). This is perfect masking and that one gold flower really pops. Outlining the leaves also is inspired, it gives real definition. I think I like the first card best, the slightly lighter grey is more subtle for me. I just noticed I have made a mistake on your link, will be sorting in 5 mims and so sorry x

  2. This is really stunning. I have been admiring it for some time on the DT blog, and now I am glad to read about how you made it. I like both versions equally, and am going to try this some time.
