TIME OUT #188 - Inside Your Home

For our TIME OUT challenge this week we are asking you to find some inspiration in your own home - very appropriate given how much time we have all been spending at home over the last year or so.

Our sponsor for this is Uniko Stamps who are generously offering the winner of the challenge an in-stock stamp set of their choice :)

I took my inspiration from a chair in my home. This chair was left in the first house that I bought - I was just out of university and didn't have much money for furniture so I decided to salvage this chair by painting the wooden arms and legs and reupholstering it. It was originally a brown floral fabric but I converted it to a short pile zebra fur fabric (it was he 90's -what can I say?!) . Somehow this temporary piece of furniture has survived four house moves and it now resides in a guest room.

I think the inspiration is obvious with this Katzelcraft stamp.... I coloured with pencils and added some Crazy Things balloons and an MFT greeting...

.....and another MFT greeting on the inside

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #187 - Move and a Special Goodbye

We have great new challenge at TIME OUT but before we get to that, there is a big change happening on the TIME OUT team that I wanted to share. Sandie (London Days) is stepping down from the team 😢- Sandie has created TIME OUT and for 7 years has put her heart and soul into this challenge to make it the wonderful place to create and share that it is today. Sandie has been a wonderful leader, friend and inspiration to me, personally and I will miss her tremendously.

So onto the challenge... this week we are asking you to be inspired by the word MOVE. Our sponsor for this challenge is Topflight  Stamps who are generously offering the challenge winner a £25 to their store 😃

For my card, I used a mini Avery Elle stamp and die set -  I just love the image and sentiment!

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is the incredibly talented Milla from Mustesormi - her colouring is phenomenal and her cards are always so beautiful.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #186 - Pets

As a happy fur-mama to 2 cats and 2 dogs, I am delighted that this fortnight's TIME OUT challenge is all about pets :)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook Designs - they have the most brilliant selection of "pets" stamps - many featuring their adorable mascot kitty, Netwon. They are offering the winner a $25 gift voucher to their store:)

My card was made specifically for a friend of mine, and it features his dog, Duke, a black lab mix who can't get enough of chasing bright orange Chuck-it balls! I love this greeting from Simon Says Stamp! The dog is from Katzelkraft, and the ball is from the Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs set - I love how these two sets work so well together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #185 - Photo Inspiration

Our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight has me yearning for beachy sunny days - check out the photo inspiration:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Kitchen Sink Stamps - they are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I kept my design fairly simple - I used a 3 part layering die to create the "flowers" and I used some stitched sentiment strips behind them to add some texture and mimic the deck boards from the photo. I finally added the sentiment in the teal colour from the chairs.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap - her designs are always so fun and perfectly executed - we are so happy that she is joining us again as a GD :)

TIME OUT #184 - Inspired By Words

For our challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT, we are jumping into Spring and asking you to create a project inspired by the following words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $20 gift voucher :)

I was inspired by the "working in the garden" part of the quote (something that I need to do now that the snow is gone!) to create this Easter card using an older My Monthly Hero kit.

Our wonderful guest designer for this challenge is Helen from Moments of Crafting  :)

PB Social Butterfly

I decided to play along with a few challenges using one of my oldest stamp sets - Penny Black's Social Butterfly. This really is a gorgeous set with lots of butterflies but I decided to use only the triangular mosaic tile butterfly (which I don't think I have ever used before!) to create some different designs.

First up are the two different cards that I created for the Twofer Card Challenge (theme butterflies!):

For the first card, I stamped the triangle across the lower half of panel and coloured them in rainbow order using Copics. I added a sentiment from Your Next Stamp and mounted the panel with foam tape. The butterflies are shimmery from Wink of Stella as well.

I will be entering this card into the Festive Friday Challenge as well (rainbow, blue, bright colours, butterflies).

For the next card, I stamped the triangle eight times in a square pattern and coloured them with Copics. The colour scheme was inspired by the Card Concept challenge this week. I have to admit that I really didn't like it very much when I was half way through the colouring but I persisted, added some white dots, and this card became my favourite of he three - and I have saved this colour scheme for future use :) I adhered the panel to a kraft card base and added a foiled Spellbinders sentiment with foam tape.

I will be entering this card into the Festive Friday Challenge (blue, bright colours, butterflies, square card) and the Card Concept (Clean and Graphic).

For the final card, I used only four triangles in a diamond shape - and I coloured only the butterflies so they would pop. I adhered this panel directly to the card base and then popped up a panel with a diamond aperture. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

I will enter this card into Addicted to CAS (Shape - four triangles to make a diamond!)

TIME OUT #183 - Be Different

Our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight is going to get you out of your comfort zone - we want you to do something different.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Funky Fossil Designs - they are offering a £15 gift voucher to their store :)

I have to admit that I had a hard time with this challenge - and, at first glance, it might not even look like I stepped outside my comfort zone - so here are the ways that this card is different for me:

  • It is coffee themed - I don't drink coffee - I just don't like the taste
  • I used 7 different patterned papers on this card - I love patterned paper but I am not goo about incorporating them into my cards - a definitely not this many!
  • I did a paper piecing technique - it has been a hot minute since I last did this technique...

I used two different stamp sets for this card - one from Simon Says Stamp and one from Your Next Stamp. A few of the paper pieced coffee cups were mounted with foam tape to add some dimension.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Lisa from Paper Mountain Parcels - we are so happy to have her join us :)

So get ready to step outside your comfort zone and join us at TIME OUT!
