A Few Cards to Share

It has been almost 6 months since I entered any cards into challenges - so I thought I would catch up today ;)

The first card that I am sharing is for the Merry Monday Challenge where the theme is stencils:

I went really non-traditional with this card - I decided to use a blank card that I had in my stash - it measured 9 1/4" x 3 7/8" and I thought it would work perfectly with the Neat and Tangled Tree Duo stencil. I sponged a few different Hero Arts inks through the stencil, and then spread some Nuvo glitter paste over the blue trees. I coloured some gems with Copics and added them to the tops of the non-glittery trees and finished the card with a W&W sentiment across the bottom. I am not happy with how it photographed but I love how it looks in real life with all the sparkle and shine.

The next card that I made is for the Inkspirational Challenge where the challenge is to use an aperture on the card: 

For this card, I stamped the Indigo Blu Color Me Dahlia stamp on the card base. I used my Misti and stamped in light ink to colour it with Copics. After colouring, I put it back in the Misti and stamped the image again in Versafine Onyx Black ink to get nice crisp lines. I also spritzed the image with shimmer spray. I die cut a large square aperture in the card front and stamped the Clearly Besotted greeting on it. I then die cut a slightly smaller gold foil square opening to layer behind the aperture. I mounted the whole card front on a layer of foam tape to give it some dimension.

My last cards are for the Twofer Challenge:

For these cards, I used the heart stamp from Winnie & Walter's True set (one of my all-time faves). The first card was the Valentine's Day card that I made for my husband. I applied some embossing paste to the card base using the MFT little triangles stencil. I then stamped the hearts onto some watercolour paper with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed them with black embossing poweder. I coloured them using Brushos in a variety of colours, and then cut them out. I mounted them onto the card base using foam tape to give them some dimension. The MFT greeting was white embossed onto the black strip and also foam mounted to finish it off.

The second card is a Birthday card. I stamped the hearts repeatedly in a circle onto the card panel - I was trying to make a mandala-like shape but I think it came out more like a flower. I coloured the shape with my Copics - I couldn't resist doing a rainbow ;)  I die cut a black circle and added the white embossed Birthday greeting (Winnie & Walter -Sentimental:Birthday). I trimmed down the card panel, added a strip of Tim Holtz silver glitter washi to the bottom and foam mounted it onto a card base that had been decorated with some black and white striped DP.

TIME OUT#103 - Hobbies

Welcome to another TIME OUT Challenge - this week, we are challenging you to make cards with a hobby theme:

The optional twist of this challenge is to make a one-layer card based on the theme - and as an added incentive, our wonderful sponsor CAS-ual Fridays, is offering a $20 gift voucher to a random entry that included the twist.

I decided to focus on music as a hobby - here are my cards:

For both cards, I used our sponsor stamp set Big Treble. I stamped the large treble clef using Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks - and then did some no line watercolouring to fill them in. The greetings are from the same stamp set.

Our wonderful Guest Designer this week is Ashwini from Experiments in Cardmaking, Etc - her cards are always beautiful and so creative so we are lucky to have her with us :)

TIME OUT #102 - Home Sweet Home Photo Inspiration

We have a great Home Sweet Home photo inspiration challenge for you at TIME OUT this week:

Perfect inspiration for Valentine's Day and a great reason to use some of the new love-themed products that have been coming out lately :)

Here is what I came up with:

I kept it very simple with black and white and gold foil and some inlaid die cutting using an older MFT die. I am still playing around with the idea of popping up a small white embossed black sentiment strip over the foil heart.... 

Our talented guest designer this week is Trina from My Crafting Closet - we are very lucky to have her with us again as her cards are always so inspiring :)

Our winner of the challenge will get a $15 gift voucher from Stamplorations - another great reason to play along :)

TIME OUT #101 - Inspired By Words

The challenge at TIME OUT is all about projects inspired by these words:

So many different ways to be inspired by these words - I chose to focus on the word gift, and this is what I came up with:

A Tim Holtz stamp and some DP paper piecing... easy peasy :)  The greeting is from Studio Calico.

The rest of the design team has lots of fabulous inspiration to share - as does our incredible guest designer, Michele from I Card Everyone. We are so lucky to have her with us for this challenge :)

TIME OUT #100 - Thankful

Happy New Year!

We have another year of fun challenges ahead of us at TIME OUT - and the for the first one, we are challenging you to be Thankful:

We are lucky enough to have two wonderful guest designers with us this week: Julee from Verve stamps is not only guest designing with us but is also offering the winner of the challenge a Verve stamp set. We are also joined by Bobby from Bits and Pieces - Bobby plays along with us almost every challenge so we are honoured to have her sharing her inspiration as a guest designer.

Here is my card:

I kept it very neutral and monochrome this week by sponging Fog and Stone ink through the layered Altenew stencil (layered dahlia) onto Fog card stock. This stencil is amazing - I love it when the product does all the work :)  I added a stacked Taylored Expressions die cut - it was cut from shimmer card stock even though you can't see it in the photo - and I added some Wink of Stella to the large flower on the left as a finishing touch. The panel was mounted onto a Fog card base.

I can't wait to see how you will be inspired by our Thankful challenge!

TIME OUT#99 - Theme Challenge: New Beginnings

This is the last TIME OUT challenge of 2017 - the year has just flown by!

I chose to go with a New Year's card. I just got this falling circles die from Neat and Tangled and immediately thought of champagne bubbles - perfect! I kept the design fairly simple - I just inlaid some gold glitter paper into the die cut, trimmed the panel and mounted it with fun foam onto a plain white card base. The sentiment was heat embossed in gold - it is from an older Hero Arts set called Holiday Sayings (one of my favourites for Christmas card sentiments) but I'm pretty sure it doesn't count as the twist ;)

TIME OUT #98 - Photo Inspiration

We are back at TIME OUT with a Home Sweet Home photo inspiration challenge this fortnight - and it is seasonally appropriate :)

If you are like me - still scrambling with holiday cards - this photo is fabulous inspiration. Here is my take:

I used the stag head and the woodgrain as a jumping off point. Starting with the card panel, I troweled some white texture paste through a Tim Holtz wood grain stencil using a circle mask - and covered it with Distress Glitter while it was still wet. I heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp stag head in gold, and cut it out using my scan n cut. The greeting, from Clearly Besotted, was white heat embossed onto a strip of SSS Schoolhouse Red card stock (my favourite red card stock!). The sentiment and the stag were mounted with foam tape and the panel was stuck to a SSS Slate card base- with a few sparkling clear sequins added for (even more) sparkle.

I really like this card - but if I were to make it again, I would probably shift everything down to the bottom half of the card.

Our guest designer this week is former TO DT member and amazing card maker - Sarah from Funky Fossil Designs. So happy to have her with us - her designs are always so inspiring.
