TIME OUT #67 - Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge

We have a special challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month - we are looking for cards that celebrate friendship and/or breast cancer awareness - with the optional twist of including some pink.

This challenge is sponsored by Special CAS-ual Fridays Stamps-prize for the winner of the challenge-$25 gift voucher plus a prize for those doing the optional twist of including pink. The prize will be a special package from their Calling All Sistahs collection. This collection of stamps were designed to promote breast cancer awareness and to help us encourage our friends (sistahs) to do their monthly self check. What an amazing prize for this special challenge!!!

We also have a great guest designer with us this week - Conil from Which Craft? joins the TIME OUT challenges regularly, and we always look forward to her creations - so happy to have her as our GD this week!

Here is my card:

I was lucky enough to receive the Mon Ami stamp set from our wonderful challenge sponsor, CAS-ual Fridays so that is what I used for my card. I kept the card very simple - because when stamps are this pretty, they need to be the star of the show :)

I stamped the flower onto the card base using SSS Intense Black ink, and then I coloured it using three shades of pink Copics. I also used the same Copics to colour the edges of the card base in an ombre effect. I die cut a rectangle piece of white card stock with the matching flower die, and stamped the My Friend greeting below the opening. I then used a PTI texture plate to add a little bit of texture to the panel before using some foam to pop it up on the card base. Everything pink was coated generously with Wink of Stella for some added sparkle :)

Make sure you find some time to join us in this special challenge - we can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #66 - Photo Inspiration Reminder

We are one week into our current photo inspiration challenge at Time Out but there is still lots of time to play along and possibly win one of the prizes offered by our generous sponsor, Stamplorations. Sheri, the Stamplorations owner and Time Out DT has offered: a $10 gift voucher to their store for the winner AND there be two random draws for stamp sets Trendy Leaves 2 and Holiday Expressions: Thankful.

Here is the photo to inspire you:

We are also lucky enough to have Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap with us as a guest designer this week - her cards are beautiful so please check them out!

Here is what I cam up with this week:

For my card this week, I took my inspiration from the brick wall and the Atumn colours of the leaves. I started out by painting a blank piece of card stock with some Silks acrylic glazes in some yellow, orange, and red colours - hard to see in the photo but these glazes have some gorgeous shimmer. Once they were dry, I stamped Stamplorations Trendy Flowers in Archival Black on the card stock, and fussy cut around the edges to create the flowers. I used a brick stencil to add some embossing paste to the card base, and then added the flowers. I finished off the card with a CAS-ual Fridays sentiment white embossed on a black banner, and a few sparkling clear sequins.

We can't wait to see how you will be inspired by our current Time Out challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #66 - Photo Inspiration

It is time for a new Time Out Challenge, and this week we are being inspired by this pretty picture:

We have a great sponsor this month - STAMPlorations is sponsoring the challenge - the winner will receive a $10 gift voucher to their store AND there will be two random draws for stamp sets Trendy Leaves 2 and Holiday Expressions: Thankful.

We are also lucky enough to have Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap with us as a guest designer this week - her cards are beautiful so please check them out!

Here is how I was inspired - using STAMPlorations Trendy Leaves set:

I was really inspired by the couple of coloured leaves against the black and white leaves so that is what I wanted to do in my card. I masked a circle on the card front, and stamped the leaf from Trendy  Leaves in some yellow, orange and yellow inks. I then stamped the same leaf repeatedly in SSS Fog and Smoke inks - masking the leaves as I went along. I traced the leaves with a black Copic multiliner to make them pop a little bit more before colouring the background with Copics. To make the coloured leaf pop even more, I coloured over it with a Versamark pen, and heat embossed some Enchanted Gold EP over it - it adds the perfect amount of golden shimmer! I used some MFT dies to create the stitched circle frame, and a Your Next Stamp die to add the stitching line across the bottom of the card. The greeting is from Clearly Besotted.

Because I can never decide on colours, I also did the same card but created a darker background by using darker shades of Copics - small change but big difference in the overall feel of the card....

So how will you be inspired? We can't wait to see at Time Out!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #65 - Inspired By Words Reminder

Our TIME OUT Challenge this week wants you to be inspired by these words:

“Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
Chad Sugg

And we are lucky enough to have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge: CAS-ual Fridays has very generously offered the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher!!!!

Rema from Paper Panache has joined us again as a Guest Designer so make sure you check out how she was inspired.

Here is my card:

I dug deep into my stash to find some fun supplies for this card - an old Tattered Angels super-sized stamp and matching mask. I laid the mask on a piece of white cardstock and sprayed some Copper Tattered Angels glimmer mist. Once it was dry, I stamped the matching stamp in the void with some SSS Slate ink. I trimmed the panel with an MFT die and matted it with some SSS Slate cardstock before adding it to the card front. The greeting is from Simon Says and was white embossed on Slate cardstock as well. This is one of those cards that looks so much better in real life with the shimmer of the spray showing through. I love the effect so much that I kept playing and created this card:

I also die  cut some tags from similar panels that I made that will find homes on cards at some point :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OT #65 - Inspired By Words

We are starting September at TIME OUT with a very seasonally-appropriate Inspired By Words Challenge:

“Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
Chad Sugg

And we are lucky enough to have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge: CAS-ual Fridays has very generously offered the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher!!!!

As always, we are equally lucky to be joined by a wonderful guest designer, Rema from Paper Panache is so creative and always has gorgeous cards.

Here is my card:

I thought of leaves changing colours - and my MFT Out On A Limb die set. I started out by applying some orange, red and yellow alcohol inks to a sheet of glossy cardstock to make my own patterned paper for the leaves. I then used my Minc machine to add some platinum foil to a piece of Heidi Swapp paper and a greeting that I printed onto my card base. I then die cut the leaves and the tree trunk from these papers and used a template to glue the the pieces onto the card front.

The design was pretty simple but I liked it so much that I decided to make 3 more, and some matching envelopes to create a card gift set.

Finally, I really liked the look of the die cut alcohol inked cardstock so I added some Be Creative adhesive behind it and applied some iridescent glitter to the openings. I used the same foil to cover a W&W die cut greeting and on a piece of vellum.

So you can see how inspired I was by these words - I can't wait to see where they take you!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
