AAA Cards #58 - Love Me Like You Do

It's time for another challenge at AAA Cards - and this week, we are seasonally appropriate with a "Love Me Like You Do" theme.

In addition to a great theme, we also have a wonderful sponsor for this challenge - Happy Little Stampers has very generously agreed to give the winner a $20 gift certificate!!!!!

I used the opportunity to create an engagement card for some friends who just got engaged over the holidays - here it is:

I started out by repeatedly stamping the heart from Simon Says Stamp's "I See You" set in Versafine Onyx and heat embossing with clear powder. I used Tim Holtz watercolour paper because I wanted to give my new Brushos a try. I painted the hearts one at a time with clear water and sprinkled on some Brushos, using my heat tool to set the paint before moving on to the next heart. To finish the card, I added some strips of black cardstock on each side of the panel and mounted it to a card base that had silver glitter tape applied on one side. I finished off with a greeting from Simon Says "Congratulations" stamp set white embossed on a strip of black card stock.

I'm so happy with the end result - I will definitely be playing with Brushos some more. I will link this card up to a couple of challenges:
So now it's your turn to join in the fun and make a "Love"-ly card!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #48 - Reminder - CASE-ing Marika

This week we continue our fabulous challenge at Time Out - we are casing this inspirational card from Marika of Me and Mini Me Crafting

Such a beautiful card - and Marika even made a video showing how she made it that you can see on her blog here. Here is my take:

For my card, I used the Penny Black Dahlias stamp set. I decided to try Marika's colouring technique of combining Copic colouring with coloured pencils on the flower (not sure if purple-blue dahlias exist in real life - so there may be some creative licence taken there!). This was my first attempt with this colouring technique and I am really happy with the results - I can see why Marika likes it so much! Here is a close up of the colouring:

The rest of the card was finished simply to allow the flower to be the focal point - but I did have to include my favourite glitter tape!

Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure you take some Time Out to join us in this fun CASE challenge!

TIME OUT #48 - Casing Marika

This week we have a fabulous challenge at Time Out - we are casing an inspirational card from Marika of Me and Mini Me Crafting. Words cannot describe the beauty of Marika's creations - she is an amazing artist who really brings stamped images to life with spectacular colouring - and this card is no exception:

Amazing right?! So many gorgeous elements to CASE.... this is my interpretation:

I stayed pretty simple and didn't do any colouring. I used an old (and sadly discontinued) Hero Arts stamp set called Lotus Leaves to stamp the the flower, stem, and leaf in a few shades of green and orange pigment ink. I then clear heat embossed it to create a resist before sponging on some Tumbled Glass. I used my trimmer and an Exacto knife to cut a strip from the panel on the card front, and added a Clearly Besotted greeting. I added a strip of silver Darice glitter tape (loving this stuff) to the card base under the cutout and popped up the card front with fun foam.

So now it's your turn to take some TIME OUT and join in the fun of this CASE-ing challenge.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #47 - Birthday

It has been a LONG time since my last post - we were traveling over the holidays and then I came down with a bad flu when we got back - but I am back again this week with another challenge for Time Out. Our challenge this week is BIRTHDAYs with an optional twist of sponging and we have a fabulous sponsor in Uniko who have very generously offered up a prize to one of the entrants who incorporates the optional twist:

As usual, we also have an amazing guest designer joining us - and this week, it is Rema from Paper Panache. Rema always comes up with such great ideas so please stop by her blog.

So on to my card... this is a Birthday card for one of my best friends - who loves Boston terriers. I "modified" a Simon stamp to make it look like her new puppy and then added in an MFT present and some Paper Smooches balloons before colouring everything with Copics. I did some masking and then sponged on some Tumbled Glass behind the image. A strip of glitter tape, a skinny strip of patterned paper, and a CB greeting were the finishing touches before I popped the panel up with foam onto the card base.
