TIME OUT #151 - Inspired By Words

It is our last TIME OUT challenge of the year and we are asking you to be inspired by the following words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations who are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I decided to focus on the encouragement feel of the quote to create an encouragement card. I started by sponging some distress inks onto the card panel before repeatedly stamping an older Stamplorations stamp (Subway Art Builder) across the background in Versamark ink. To make it a little bit more special, I brushed some Perfect Pearls on the wet Versamark ink to add some shimmer - I love the way it catches the light. I finished off the card by adhering the panel to a SSS Doll Pink card base and adding a stacked SSS "you" die cut paired with a white embossed sentiment on black card stock.

Our amazing guest designer for this challenge is Helen from Moments Of Crafting - we are thrilled to have her join us for this challenge :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #150 - Merry & Cheerful

We have a great seasonal challenge for you this week at TIME OUT - we are challenging you to create Merry & Cheerful projects.

Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Uniko who are offering the winner a free in-stock stamp of their choice :)

For my card, I used the Let It Snow stencil to create a resist background which I then inked in a few shade of blue. I die cut the background using a Your Next Stamp die. I heat embossed the Big & Bold Merry stamp in silver embossing powder on vellum and fussy cut it out. Both the panel and the greeting were adhered with foam tape for dimension and I added some sparkly gems to the centres of the snowflakes for a finishing touch.

While I was playing with the stencil, I also decided to create another background using DecoFoil paste and teal coloured foil. I sponged a few shades of distress ink and finished off with an Ellen Hutson die cut greeting cut from white glitter paper.

We are lucky to have Angie from Cimbacreativefun joining us as our Guest Designer this week so make sure you stop by her blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #149 - Celebrations

Our TIME OUT Challenge this week is all about celebrations:

We would love to see your projects focused on this theme - and we would really love to see projects that use the "One Layer" optional twist. Our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew - they are offering the challenge winner a $20 gift voucher :)

Proud to be Sponsored by

For this challenge, we will be joined by Christine from Experiments in Craft so make sure you stop by to see her take on our Celebrations theme.

For my cards, I decided to play around with the Altenew Festive Poinsettia stamp set. The fist card I created is a one layer card. I stamped the poinsettia image and then coloured it with Copics and added a little shimmery Wink of Stella. I then added a greeting from the Altenew Build A Flower Poinsettia stamp set before masking of the flower and the top of the card to stamp a border across the bottom using an MFT background stamp. Here it is:

For my second card, I decided to do some layers so I fussy cut the flower out leaving a small white border. I die cut a frame using the Altenew Frilly Frame Die and backed it with some iridescent glitter for some sparkle. I used a SSS Fog card base and stamped a tone on tone pattern from Hero Arts onto it. I assemble the pieces using foam tape and finished it off with a Hero Arts white embossed sentiment and a piece of black and white bakers twine.

Here are the two cards side by side:

I am continuing to play around with this stamp set - I have some watercoloured projects using it on my desk right now :)

I will be entering these cards into the following challenges:

TIME OUT #148 - Photo Inspiration

This fortnight we are hosting my favourite type of challenge at TIME OUT, a photo inspiration challenge :)  And now that Halloween is fully in the rear view mirror, we are focusing on Christmas (it is never to early to start on those cards right?!).

I think that it is pretty obvious where I took my inspiration from the photo ;) I started out by stamping a tone on tone woodgrain background (MFT) onto some SSS Schoolhouse Red card stock (incidentally, this is my favourite Christmas red card stock!). I lined up all the greeting from the Winnie & Walter In A Word: Grand Merry stamp set in my MIST and then white embossed them on the panel. I stamped the Ellen Hutson Modern Christmas Holly tone one tone onto some green cardstock and made some red berries with  sparkly Nuvo drops. I added them to the panel along with a sparkly gold strip down the side and finished off the card with a little bit of rustic twine.

We are lucky to have the talented Angie from Cimba Creative Fun joining us a Guest Designer for this challenge so make sure you check out her designs :)

TIME OUT #147 - Inspired By Words

In our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight, we are asking you to be inspired by the following words:

"Dream Big, Be Grateful, Give Love, Laugh Lots"

Our very generous sponsor for this challenge is Uniko who are generously offering the winner of the challenge an in-stock stamp of their choice :)

For my card, I decided to focus on the "grateful" part of the words to create a thank you card (can never have too many of those!). I stamped the Uniko Background Wonky Stripes onto some watercolour cardstock in Versafine Onyx ink and then watercoloured using some shimmery Autumn colours. I originally thought that I was going to stay within the lines but eventually decided that I liked the look of continuous colour. I used a Winnie & Walter die to add in the "thanks" (stacked 4 times with cardstock) and stamped a second Altenew greeting across the bottom of the watercoloured image.

TIME OUT #146 - Encouraging

We have a great challenge for you this fortnight at TIME OUT; we are challenging you to be encouraging :)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook - they will be giving the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

For my card, I masked off the top left corner at an angle and stamped Newton's Nook Flamingo Flock, and coloured the image with Copics.

I did a little bit of stamp surgery on the sentiment stamp so that I could wrap it around the corner of the image. I then adhered the panel to a red card base.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Shawna from the Grand Stampede - make sure you stop by to check out her wonderful designs :)

TIME OUT #145 - Breast Cancer Awareness

We have a very special challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT - our breast cancer awareness challenge:

Our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Fridays, who have a wonderful range of breast cancer awareness products. They have offered a $25 gift voucher to a randomly chosen entry that creates a one-layer card with pink :)

My card does not include the optional twist this time. I started out by water colouring a blue backdrop on a piece of Tim Holtz watercolour paper. I added a few splatters in blue and white and then die cut the panel using a stitched rectangle die. I cut the Big Hope Fri-die from white card four times and stacked them together in the centre of the blue background. I also used some scrap card stock to cut some flowers and leaves using the Garden Fri-dies and adhered them around the big hope. The whole panel was foam mounted onto a white card base.

Our Guest Designer is Sidan so please stop by her blog and say hello.

TIME OUT #144 - Photo Inspiration

Our challenge this week at TIME OUT is one of my favourite kinds of challenges - a photo inspiration challenge - and this week is so much fun with the graphic black and white decor.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Poppystamps - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $20 gift voucher to their store.

Proud to be sponsored by

For my card, I was inspired by the bold black and white and I created a layered die cut background using the Birch Press Design Prismatic Triangle layering set in alternating black and white. I love all the dimension this technique creates in real life. I also saw the pop of green in the picture so I decided to add my sentiment strip white embossed on a piece of green cardstock and add a few green Nuvo Drops. I also created a green envelope with a tone-on-tone die cut to jazz it up a bit.

Our guest designer for this challenge is the incredible Hannelie of Desert Diva - her designs are so amazing and a constant source of inspiration :)

TIME OUT #143 - Inspired By Words

For our challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT, we are asking you to create a project inspired by these words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is one of my favourite stamp companies, Winnie & Walter - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $25

For my card, I decided to use one of my favourite Winnie & Walter dies, the Cover Model: Multifaceted Cutaway.  I die cut a piece of Tim Holtz watercolour paper and then watercoloured the small sections in rainbow order before putting it back together as an inlaid die cut. I white heat embossed an older Whimsy Stamps umbrella onto some black cardstock and fussy cut it out; I attached it with foam tape to the inlaid background. I made a matching purple envelope and stamped some umbrella across the back; I outlined the umbrellas using a sparkly pen.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Arlene from Sundaystamper Papercrafts.

TIME OUT #142 - Fashionable

This week at TIME OUT, we are challenging you to be fashionable.

Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations who have generously offered the winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

For my project this week, I used Stamplorations A Girl and Her Shoes stamp set - I really love this set - especially the sentiment that I used on the card which is a Marilyn Monroe quote.

I wanted to create a "store window" look on the card so I embossed the small shoe in the set in six different sparkly embossing powders onto vellum. I used a Mama elephant die to create the window frame - I die cut it 6 times to get some dimension.
I wasn't going to make this into a shaker card but I ended up adding some confetti into the window.

Here is a close up where you can see some of the sparkle and the confetti:

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Jenny from My Paper Epiphany - she has made two great cards for this challenge so make sure you stop by her blog to check them out.

TIME OUT #141 - Relaxation

Our challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT is perfect for those lazy summer days - we are looking for your relaxation themed projects.

We are very lucky to have Newton's Nook as our sponsor for this challenge - they are offering a $25 store credit to a randomly chosen entry that opts to make a one layer project :)

I decided to make a one layer card using Newton's Naptime for my project this week - how adorable is this image?! I Copic coloured the image and them masked it before adding a sponged and stenciled background. The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday set - I though it worked brilliantly with both the image and the challenge theme :) I did add a slim strip of silver glitter washi tape to the card - (I think it is still one layer?) - to finish it off and add a little sparkle.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Marieke whose wonderful designs are so often in our gallery inspiring us - so make sure you check out her work.

TIME OUT #139 - Inspired By Words

This fortnight at TIME OUT, we are looking for projects inspired by the following words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Catherine Pooler who has generously offered the winner a $25 gift voucher :)

I was inspired by the flowers part of the word and finally cracked open a die that had been sittign on my desk for quite a while. I kept my project very simple this week using the Simon Says Hibiscus Frame die, some coloured cardstock, some ink sponging and some inlaid die cutting.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap - Claire is a regular Time Out player who had guest designed with us in the past and we are thrilled to have her with us again.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ology GD - Citrus

I am so happy to be Guest Designing at CASology this week - I love their cue card challenges - always so much fun :)

The theme for this challenge is Citrus - so perfect for summertime.

I love this Citrus Trimmings stamp set from Studio Katia. I stamped it, Copic coloured it, and fussy cut it before foam mounting it on a black card base. I got a little bit more creative with the sentiment - I did some stamp surgery on it so that I could shape it to the border of the image - an then white heat embossed it.

This challenge is two weeks long - so have some fun with a citrus-y card creation!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #135 - Funny

We have a great TIME OUT challenge for you this fortnight - we want you to be funny :)

We have the perfect sponsor for this challenge - CAS-ual Friday Stamps has a great selection of funny stamps - and they are offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher :)

I could not resist using CAS-ual Friday Stamps Tag You're It stamp set - the sentiments are so funny. I thought they would be absolutely perfect paired with some Echo Park Emoji die cuts. I couldn't choose which sentiment and emoji I wanted to use - so I ended up making 6 funny tags!

I die cut the emoji shapes from several different colours of cardstock and I sponged some ink around the edges - I think this makes a big difference to the overall look. I inlaid die cut all the features so that the emojis would be a single layer. The tags were die cut from some SSS Smoke card stock using a Winnie & Walter die. I did do some partial die cutting to create the longer ones. I white heat embossed the sentiments onto the tags, adhered the emojis and added some red and white twine to finish them off.

Our guest designer for this challenge is the incredibly talented Milla - her blog Mustesormi is a smorgasbord of inspiration :)

Make sure you take some TIME OUT to be funny!

TIME OUT #137 - Nature

We have a wonderful challenge at TIME OUT this fortnight - we want to see your nature inspired projects:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko Stamps - the prize they are offering (a free stamp set!) will be given to a randomly drawn entry that creates a one-layer card.

I used a beautiful Uniko stamp for my card - English Country Garden Butterflies. I stamped the large butterfly three times across the bottom of the card panel - masking as the centre one. I did a some Copic colouring and stamped a sentiment from the Ton before mounting the panel on an orange card base.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Lise Mariann - make sure to check out her wonderful designs.

TIME OUT #136 - Photo Inspiration

Our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight is my favourite type of challenge - photo inspiration :)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations who are generously offering the winner a $25 gift voucher - thanks so much Shery!

I used Stamplorations Blossom Sprays #2 as the focal point of my card; I stamped it in black and Copic coloured the flowers in red (inspired by the photo). I also wanted to mimic the pretty background wall so I used a Neat & Tangled cover plate die to create a tone on tone look. I added some ink blending and splatters to it to add some depth. The flowers and the Mama Elephant greeting were both mounted with foam tape - and a splattering of clear sequins to finish the design.

Our wonderful guest designer for this challenge is Greta from GG Creations - make sure you check out her creative designs!
