Waffle Flower December 2021 Challenge

Just popping in really quickly to share this card I created for the Waffle Flower December challenge of winter birthdays.

The lighting is not great for the photo :(  I used the Warm Hands stamps and dies to create the background and the Label Maker Sentiments for the greeting:

TIME OUT #204 - New!

Our final TIME OUT challenge for 2021 is the perfect one to welcome in the new year - we challenge you to be NEW!

It is a perfect challenge for us to introduce our two new design team members as well :)  We are so happy to have Nancy and Aarthi join our team.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko who are generously offering the challenge winner an in stock stamp set of their choice :)

I decided to make a New Year's card for the challenge - but that is where the "new" theme ends for me - the supplies I used are all older ones. I clear embossed Hero Arts Artistic Circles onto a piece of white cardstock. I used the infinity circle dies to create stencils that I used to sponge different colours of Distress Inks over the various circles. I cut a strip from the panel before foam mounting it onto a purple card base. I white heat embossed the sentiment directly onto the card base - this is also from an older Hero Arts set.

We are thrilled to have Chrissie from Simply One of a Kind joining us as our guest designer for this challenge - her clean and simple designs are always so inspiring :)

I will also be entering this card in the current Hero Arts Stay Craft Challenge - circles

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just popping in to share a couple of very last minute entries for the Pinkfresh December challenge...

My first card uses the Ornate Poinsettia die - inlaid die cutting with some watercoloured pieces - splattered with gold. The Holiday Vibes is also from Pinkfresh.

The second card uses the Lush Vines cover plate hot foiled in gold and Copic coloured. The gold die cut sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

TIME OUT #203 - Inspiration

How are you inspired? That is what we are asking you this fortnight at TIME OUT Challenges.

Our incredible sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook who are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I take my inspiration from so many places - one of them is designer paper. I had some old 12 x 12 designer paper that I wanted to use to make some fun envelopes - and I used the pattern to inspire the matching cards:

I die cut the squares from watercolour paper using a Memory Box die and then used some Distress Inks to watercolour them in colours taken from the design paper. I added some very fine splatter to the squares as well to mirror the design paper. The squares were popped up with foam and the card was finished with a gold foil die cut "thanks" and a gold embossed sub-sentiment. I had so much fun with this design, I made two!

Our guest designer for this challenge is Cindy from Stamps, Paper and Ink. Cindy won Challenge #200 with her gorgeous design and we are thrilled that she is joining us or this one.

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #202 - Photo Inspiration

 Hi friends :)

Our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight is a seasonal photo challenge... if you haven't started your holiday cards yet, this photo will definitely inspire you to:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations who are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

For my card, I took my inspiration from the red, white and kraft colour scheme (ok - so I added some blue!) and also from the fa la la la. The llama die it from Impression Obsession and the greeting (finished on the inside with "la la llama") is from Hero Arts. The snowflakes are from a few sets and embossed with white sparkle embossing powder.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Bobby from Bits and Pieces - Bobby is a regular TIME OUT player and has guest designed with us several times in the past as well - we are so happy to have her join us again :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Monthly Challenges - Gina K Designs, Waffle Flower, Hero Arts

Getting these done just under the wire for a few monthly challenges :)

First is the Gina K Designs Monthly Mix Challenge entry:

I used the Playful Penguins and the sentiment strip from the Joyful Holiday card kit for my design. I couldn't decide which penguin to use since they are all so sweet -I created a slimline card so I could use 3 of them. The sentiment from the kit was die cut and foiled in pewter foil (I love that these can be foiled!).

Next is the Waffle Flower November Challenge - Most Wonderful Time:

I really loved how the host, Galina, used her slim line dies to create a wine bottle tag - such a creative idea and I had to give it a try. I love these layered mittens from the Warm Hands stamp set and thought they would make a great focal point for the tag - especially against a snowy background :)

Finally, my entry for the Hero Arts Stay Crafty Challenge where the theme is holiday tags:

I fell in love with the November MMH kit and scooped it up as soon as it was released :) The tags I created were very inspired by Jennifer McGuire (here) - I love the white on kraft tags that she made and I did the same thing using an older Impression Obsession background stamp. I also used an older Hero Arts set - Irreverent Elf Messages - for the sentiments. I love how these sentiments pair so well with the critters from the kit.

I will also enter these projects in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where Anything Goes :)

TIME OUT #200 - Precious

Our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight is a theme - we want to see how you are inspired by "Precious"

Our sponsor for the challenge is Stamplorations - they are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I took the interpretation quite literally - a precious gem! I used a Winnie & Walter die to create a shaker card with some micro beads (I wish I had used more of them since my shaker is looking a little sparse!)

Our guest designer for this challenge is Kinjal from Mind My Paper - we are so happy that she decided to join us after she won Challenge #197.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #199 - Down To Earth

We have a great theme for our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight - we want you to get "down to earth". How will this theme inspire you?

Our sponsor for this challenge is Alex Syberia Design - the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher to her store where she sells an amazing selection of digital stamps and cut files :)

I took the words "down to earth" very literally - and used this design from Alex Syberia that incorporates a shoe and flowers - two things that you can find on the ground ;) I printed the image onto 80# Neenah Solar White (this is the thickest card stock my printer can handle), Copic coloured it and fussy cut it. I kept the rest of the card very simple adding a Hero Arts wood frame die cut (stacked up) in matte silver card and a silver greeting from W Plus 9. Just a few sequins to finish the card....

Our guest designer for this challenge is Elizabeth from Paper Sweetness - Elizabeth has been a regular TIME OUT player for many years and has guest designed with us several times in the past. We are thrilled to have her join us for this challenge :)

TIME OUT #198 - Breast Cancer Awareness

Is it October already???!!! I can't believe how quickly this year is rolling by - it is already time for our annual TIME OUT Breast Cancer Awareness challenge.

We are very lucky to have CAS-ual Fridays sponsoring this challenge once again - they have been sponsoring this challenge every year. CAS-ual Fridays have so many friendship and encouragement products that are perfect for this challenge - and they are generously offering a randomly drawn entry a $25 gift voucher to purchase some :)

I used a retired CAS-ual Friday stamp set for my project called Butterbows - I just love the sentiments in this set as well as the butterfly rainbow.

Our talented guest designer for this challenge is Natasa of Nat's Paper World - we are thrilled to have her join us :)

Waffle Flower September 2021Challenge

My friend and TIME OUT teamie, Nonni, is guest designing for the Waffle Flower September 2021 Challenge - so of course I had to play along :)

I decided to highlight the Waffle Flower Bear Hugs stamp in my design - I thought it would be perfect for a Thanksgiving card. I started by creating a custom leaf frame for the design - I used a leaf from an older Winnie & Walter set - and stamped and masked and stamped and masked and stamped and.... you get the picture. I coloured the leaves with Copics and fussy cut the centre of the frame.

I stamped the Bear Hugs image onto a separate card panel and Copic coloured it. I then foam mounted the leaf frame on top. The greeting is also from Waffle Flower - I used the negative letters from Year Round Word Dies "Happy" and "Thanksgiving" and adhered them to a Copic coloured Cardstock strip - I love the effect this created - a little bit like a Dymo label with the raised letters.

My card fits the following categories in the challenge: leaves, critters, using an iconic Fall image 3 times (red maple leaf).

TIME OUT #196 - Brave

We have a great TIME OUT challenge for you this fortnight - we are challenging you to be brave.

We are lucky to have a fabulous sponsor for this challenge - Funky Fossil Designs is offering the challenge winner a £15 gift voucher to their store :)

There are lots of different ways to interpret this challenge - you can create an encouragement card, focus on some brave imagery (like lions or warriors) or do what I did and create a project focused on the spookiest day of the year - Halloween! Make sue you check out all the different types of inspiration from our design team and our incredible GD - Rhamat from Cards and Cooking Corner.

My card is very simple this week - I used an older Clearly Besotted set and stamped the bat repeatedly in the background with Versamark before heat embossing with some black sparkle embossing powder. The greeting was heat embossed in lime green on a small strip and foam mounted.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #195 - Use a Coloured Card Base

This fortnight at TIME OUT, we have a theme challenge - we want to see your projects using a coloured card base

Our sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook Designs - they are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I went for an Autumn inspired card design - featuring white embossed Winnie & Walter leaves on a kraft card stock and a few gold splatters. I brought the Autumn colours into the design using a Spellbinders sentiment which is foiled in gold. These foil plates were from a monthly Spellbinders Glimmer - I love the way you can build the sentiments in this set.

We are lucky to be joined for this challenge by Toni from Frankie Helps Craft :)

TIME OUT #194 - Photo Inspiration

We have a very special TIME OUT challenge for you this fortnight as both the inspiration photo and the prize are provided by our very own DT member, Kim from Cupcakes, Cards and Kim. She is the owner-operator of our sponsor, Running Stitch Design.

For the challenge, we are looking for projects inspired by this photo - but here is the fun part - the winner of the challenge will receive the actual tote in the photo :) The tote is fully lined and It has a zipper pocket on front, inside pockets and webbing for the handles.  Tote measures 16.5x10.5x6. If you are interested in checking out any of the other fabulous products available from Running Stitch Design, please  check here.

Here is how I was inspired by the photo:

I thought that the tote would make a great knitting bag so I used some products from an older Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit. I die cut the heart from felt to mimic the look of wool and the knitting needles from metallic cardstock for a little bit of shine.

We are also very lucky to have two Guest Designers join us for this challenge :)

Sandie from London Days co-founded Time Out and ran it for eight years until taking a step back a couple of moths ago - but we are so happy that she is back with us for this special challenge :)

We are also thrilled to have Nathalie from wonderingwabbit join us for this challenge. Her colouring is absolutely amazing so make sure you take a minute to check out her Instgram>

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT =#193 - Inspired By Words

Our challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT is all about being inspired by the following words:

Our sponsor for the challenge is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps who are generously offering the challenge winner a $25 gift voucher :)

You might notice from the challenge blog that Nonni (Nonni's Handmade Cards) and I used the same stamp set for our cards - that is because we created these cards together over Zoom. We used the same stamp set but we used different colouring techniques and designs for our cards. It was a lot of fun and I really appreciate the creative inspiration from our crafty session :) It also works well for the "friend" part of the inspiring words! The stamp set we used is an older one from Concord & 9th that we both had,

Our fabulous guest designer for this challenge is Jen from JENerally Speaking - her CAS designs are always so inspiring that we are thrilled to have her join us :)

Twofer - PB Birds on a Wire DIe

Just popping in to share a couple of cards I was inspired to create for the (almost not!) current Twofer Challenge - the theme is birds and both cards use the Penny Black Birds on a Wire die - an old favourite from my stash :)

The first card uses the die intact inlaid on an ink blended background and framed with a Hero Arts Infinity frame. The birds are cut from a charcoal glitter paper (I know it looks strange in the photo) and the sentiment is from a Gina K set.

For the second card, I die cut the same birds from a satiny red cardstock but I cut them off their wire. More ink blending for the background, topped with this fabulous Memory Box die - and then the birds and a few clear gems. I was actually inspired to add a thread nest behind the sentiment with some silver thread (I haven't done that in a hot minute!) for an additional finishing touch.

I had a really hard time capturing the red in the photos - so here is a close up....

I will be linking up to the following challenges:
