TIME OUT#80 - Inspired By Words

We have some great inspirational words this fortnight for the TIME OUT challenge:

'When it rains look for rainbows, when it's dark look for stars'

We have a great sponsor for this challenge - Uniko Studio is offering a £15 gift voucher to the winner.

Marilyn from Marilyn's Card Spot is our wonderful guest designer this week - make sure you stop by her blog to check how she is inspiring us.

Here is my take on the words:

This card came about as a  result of me playing around with my new Distress Oxide Inks- I was playing around with smooshing and layering contrasting colours (hence the orange and blue). When I was done, I had a bunch of panels so I used some MFT star dies to cut them out to make them into cards. On this one, I stamped a Simon Says birthday greeting in the middle and adhered the stars around it. I am really happy with how it came together - it makes a good masculine Birthday card - something that I always seem to be in need of....

I was inspired by the "stars" in the quote but I can wait to see how you are inspired when you take some TIME OUT to play along with us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Majestic Bloom

Happy Sunday :)

Sharing a card that I made for my MIL's upcoming birthday using Altenew's Majestic Blooms layering stamp set:

I used pinks for the flower and greens for the leaves - a played around with some combinations of Simon Says and Hero Arts inks until I found a combination that I liked. For the card, I used a Simon Says Fog card base and layered a panel of white card stock that I embossed using a Taylored Expression embossing folder. I embellished with a lot of gold - the sentiment was stamped in gold pigment ink, then layered with gold perfect pearls, some gold perfect pearls in the centre of the flowers, and a splatter of gold sequins. Because the gold was so shiny, it was hard to capture on film but I love how it looks in real life. The flowers and the Altenew Label Love greeting were popped up with foam tape.

I will link up to the following challenges:

  • The Card Concept - I was heavily inspired by the inspiration photo this week - the flowers and the distressed background... I think that my take would be clean and layered
  • Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- I used the dies for the flower, the leaves, and panel
Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #79 - CASE-ing Jenny M

For our challenge this week at TIME OUT, we are CASE-ing the amazing Jenny M from Crafting in the Country who shared this pretty cards with us:

We also have a great Guest Designer joining us - Izzy from IzzyScrap is a regular TIME OUT player and her cards are always amazing so make sure you check out her blog.

Our Sponsor for this challenge is Verve Stamps - not only have they offered up a great prize  for the winning card but they also supplied us with some stamps to use in our cards this week. I received the Hip Hop Bunnies set (so cute) - and this is how I used it in the CASE:

I decided to CASE the layout but I flipped it upside down. The background was sponged with Distress Inks, and the bunnies and carrots were coloured with Copics. I love the greeting (also from the set) and I thought that it would be fun make it an interactive card so I added Action Wobblers behind the two bunnies.

How will you CASE Jenny's card? We can't wait to see so make sure you take some TIME OUT and join us.

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT#78 - 3rd Birthday Friendship/Love Challenge

This week's Time Out Challenge is a really special one - it is our third birthday!!!! I have always loved Time Out - I played along almost every fortnight until I joined the DT a year and a half ago - and I want to thank Sandie and Nonni for all their hard work in brining this wonderful challenge to life, and keeping it so inspiring with all their wonderful ideas!!!!

Our challenge this week is really appropriate for our celebration - we want to see your cards focused on Love and Friendship - with an optional twist of spotlight stamping where you add color only to one raised spot of your image.

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful sponsors for our Birthday - there are so many prizes up for grabs - some for the top picks and also for a random entry that includes the optional twist of spotlight stamping.

We are also so lucky to have Ardyth join us as our guest designer - I am in constant awe of her gorgeous cards, and I love her amazing CAS style.

Here is what I came up with for the challenge:

I used the MFT Bundles of Blossoms background stamp - stamped in HA Soft Granite on the card base and in black on another panel. I used Copics to colour the panel and then die cut it with a Winnie & Walter "Hi" die. I popped the Hi up over the corresponding pattern on the base card and finished off with a few dew drops.

We can't wait to see your creations as you join us for this Birthday party!

Thanks for stopping by!
