TIME OUT #62 Reminder

We are continuing our Home Sweet Home photo inspiration challenge at Time Out.  How will this photo inspire you?

Our fabulous guest designer, Stephanie from My Ink Well is with us again this week - so make sure you stop by her blog to check out her beautiful designs (she is an expert with Brushos!).

Last week, my card was crisp and modern inspired by the artwork - this week, I took my inspiration from the vintage lamps. The shapes of the shades reminded me of flowers, and the way they were clustered made me think of this poppy stamp from Hero Arts:

I coloured the stamped image with Copics - trying to use the same colours as the photo. I added some Wink of Stella shimmer to the coloured blooms and stamped the SSS greeting to overlap them slightly. I challenged myself to use some coloured card stock for the mat and the card base (something that I don't do too often), and mounted the panel in the top left corner to do something different.

TIME OUT #62 - Photo Inspiration

It is time for another Time Out Challenge - and this week, it is my favourite type of challenge - a Home Sweet Home Photo Inspiration Challenge - and as usual, Sandie has chosen a gorgeous photo for us:

So what do you see in this photo? Lots of gorgeous elements to choose from - I know I had a hard time choosing what to focus on...

We have a wonderful guest designer with us this week, Stephanie from My Ink Well is a good friend and enormous talent so make sure you stop by to see how she was inspired.

And here is how I was inspired:

I really liked to the picture with the letters - it reminded me a little bit of an eye chart which made me think of this stamp set from MFT. It was stamped simply in Versafine Onyx Black ink (I thought about doing some red letters but ultimately decided not to). I die cut the rectangle and framed it with some black cardstock. The background was created with some MFT glasses die cuts adhered to the card base - this is one of my favourite techniques - I love the tone-on-tone effect :)

So how will you be inspired? Take some Time Out to join us for this really fun challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT#61 Reminder - Inspired By Words

This week at TIME OUT, we are asking you to create something based on the following words:

Anthony J. D'Angelo

Our wonderful Guest Designer is Sue from Foleysfriend - so please stop by her blog to see how these words inspired her.

Last week I went with a rain storm inspired card and this week, I went in the opposite direction - to the beach and sunshine! I used a Simon Says stamp set (flip flop season) to stamp the flip flops repeatedly across the panel and white heat emboss them.I then watercoloured them using some Gansai Tambi paints (really vibrant IRL!) I also watercoloured the bg in a sand colour but I wasn't entirely satisfied with the look so I masked off the flip flops and used my Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer tool with a couple of darker markers to add in the grains of sand - much better :)

I die cut the panel down and mounted in on a plain white card base - and then I added a couple of greetings from the same set - stamped in black.

So that's where those words took me - where will they take you?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I used the Neat and Tangled Fractal Clouds stamps and dies with some Distress Inks as watercolours for this card - a lot of playing around with techniques really - very fun :)
