TIME OUT #76 - Inspired By Words

We have a great TIME OUT challenge for you this week - we are asking you to create a project based on the following words:

'Friends are connected heart to heart, distance and time can't break them apart'

Wonderful words and so many ways they can be interpreted - I can't wait to the wonderful creations in the gallery... and speaking of wonderful creations, make your you check out the great designs of Jane from Purplejet Loves Crafts - we are very lucky to have her Guest Designing with us this week.

We have an incredible sponsor this week too - CAS-ual Fridays is offering a $25 gift voucher to the challenge winner...

In addition to giving the winner a prize, they also supplied the DT with products to use for this challenge - I chose the Heart Board Fri-dies and I absolutely loved playing with it. I ended up creating 3 different cards with it - and I still have a ton of ideas on more ways to use it. Definitely a new fave :)

Here is card #1:

(I usually don't make them so big but it was hard to capture the foil and the sentiment)

This card was fairly straightforward - I die cut the heart from some red and silver foil card stock - which I inlaid into the card panel. I also cut the arrow from some black card stock and inlaid that as well. The greeting is from an old Studio Calico card kit - but it worked perfectly in the arrow so I went with it in white heat embossing (don't you love it when that happens!). I did pop up the panel with some fun foam to add a little bit of dimension..... V-Day card for Michael is done :)

Card #2:

I was inspired by another greeting in that Studio Calico kit to make a multi-coloured inlaid heart. I watercoloured the die cuts with Distress inks. I also inlaid the arrows and stamped the greeting in the bottom corner.

Card #3:

This card probably reflects the inspirational words the best - especially since I made it for a good friend in Montreal to wish her well in an upcoming surgery. I used a Stamplorations stencil and some embossing paste an the card base to add a little bit of texture and then I added the leftover watercoloured hearts popped up with some foam squares. The stamped greeting is also from CAS-ual Fridays.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. A fabulous trio, Jill ... one cool and graphic ... the other two bright and colourful ... the DI watercolouring makes those hearts seem textured ... they're brilliant! Hugs, Anita :)

  2. Great trio! Love the foil cardstock on the first, but really fel in love with the layout of your 3th card! Hugs, Gerrina

  3. wow these are all so inspiring. Card one the foil looks fabulous and popping it up like this with this cool panel really makes it pop. The second card fits perfectly with this sentiment and those colours are so bright and cheery. And as for card 3-wow and wow-my fav, what a fabulous creation made so special by that subtle embossed background x

  4. I love these!! You rocked HeartBoard Fri-Dies! I love the foil and really love the way you linked the hearts in card #3. Very Very cool! I'm going to pin these to our Pinterest boards later :)
