TIME OUT #154 - Affectionate

Our challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT is a perfect one to get into the mood for Valentine's Day - we are challenging you to be affectionate:

Our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I decided to use some CAS-ual Fridays products for my card this week - I just adore the new Ever After sentiment set and wanted to use the big scripty sentiment as the focal point of my card. To make it stand out a little bit more, I heat embossed it using some HA purple sparkle embossing powder (close up shown below the card pic). I wanted to add something to the background but not distract too much from the sentiment so I used one of my favourite techniques: tone-on-tone die cuts. I die cut some white hearts using the Heart Board Fri-Die and adhered them to frame the sentiment. I then mounted the card panel on a shimmery purple card base for fun.

Apologies for the lighting in the pics - it is that time of year that seems to be very challenging to get it just right.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Mugda from Craftomania - we are so happy to have her join us!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #153 - Wardrobe Inspiration

We have such a fun challenge for you at TIME OUT - we are asking to create a project based on an item from your wardrobe :)

This challenge is sponsored by Poppystamps - they are offering a random entry a $20 gift voucher - how great is that?!

Proud to be sponsored by

Despite the inspiring challenge theme, I wasn't feeling super creative but I ended up focusing on my winter toques (what can I say - I am Canadian and it is winter!) - I have two that I wear; one is a white and grey Icelandic style and the other is a pink and white one with a big pompom. This stamp set from W Plus 9 let me create a mash-up of my two toques :)

I did a blue water colour wash for the background and then heat embossed (optional twist) the large MFT greeting. I die cut the hat and mittens and popped them up - along with a few snowflake embellishments from Hero Arts.

I can't wait to see how the rest of the DT was inspired - along with our wonderful GD, Lise Mariann who is joining us for this challenge.

Make sure you take some TIME OUT to join us!

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #152 - Photo Inspiration

Our first TIME OUT challenge of the year is my favourite type of challenge- a photo inspiration :) Check Out this wonderful picture to see how you are inspired:

Our incredible sponsor for this challenge is Funky Fossil Designs - I just love all her stencils and now she has added stamps to the collection so if you haven’t checked out her products, you should definitely take a look.

I was inspired by the vertical striped plate in the photo and Funky Fossil’s Four Hearts Stencil was perfect to recreate it on my card. I die cut a white rectangle panel and sponged some light red ink through the solid heart stencil. I then created my own red glitter paste using clear embossing paste and a lot of red glitter. I lined up the vertical striped heart stencil over the solid image and applied the paste.

I wanted to keep the focus on the big heart so I kept the rest of the card simple with a grey stamped Simon Says sentiment and a few small red hearts cut from some glitter card that I had in my stash. The panel was mounted on a grey card base. I created a matching red envelope with a white glitter embossing paste heart as well.

We can’t wait to see how you will be inspired by this challenge so take some TIME OUT to join us :)

Thanks so much for stoppihng by!
