A couple of Cards To Share

I feel like it has been forever since I spend a whole day in my craftroom but yesterday a situation involving my cat trying to race me down the stairs resulted in my straining an ankle, and being completely housebound - so what better way so spend the day...

The first card I am sharing is my entry for the Card Concept Challenge who shared this absolutely gorgeous inspiration Photo:

I love the gorgeous colours of the butterflies accented by the white outlines - here is my interpretation:

I used some Peerless water colours to create the background splotches of colours. I used a memory box die cut called Fairyland Butterflies and coated it in clear Wink of Stella (which didn't show up in the photo). I adhered the die cut with clear foam adhesive to make it appear to be floating above the splotches of colours. The greeting is from Altenew. Here is a side view to illustrate the dimension:

I will link this card to a couple of places:

The second card that I have to share is for one of my favourite challenges TIME OUT. This week, we are being inspired by words:

"Happy Is The Bride The Sun Shines On"

I chose to focus on the key words "Happy" and "Sun" and came up with this:

I used two colours of pigment ink to create the sun using the Simon Says Watts Up stamp set which I clear embossed. The cloudy background was created using the Simon Says Stamp Create a Scene stencils and some Tumbled Glass Distress Inks. The two greetings are from the Simon Says Sparkle and Shine stamp set. I finished off the card with some silver thread and a Tim Holtz embossed background. Here is a close up of the greetings:

I will link up to TIME OUT

Thanks do much for stopping by!

  1. What a glorious sun!! Fantastic idea to use the two different inks, really makes it stand out. Your clouds are so perfect too, love the blue ink you used. Hope your ankle is feeling much better (why do cats always like to trip us up etc??) and so glad you joined us at TIME OUT!

  2. The white die cut with the vibrant patches of color is fantastic ... so very glad you joined us at Fusion Card Challenge.

  3. FABulous colours Jill - perfect! So glad you joined in the fun @ FUSION!

  4. Gorgeous! Love how you created spots of vibrant colors for each butterfly! Amazing take on the challenge! Thank you so much for playing along with The Card Concept!

  5. Two bold and vibrant cards, Jill! I love the inky goodness on the first one and the shimmer and texture on the second! BTW, I sent you an email yesterday and re-sent it today just in case it got filtered. Hope your ankle feels better soon! Hugs!

  6. Such lovely cards! Great idea with the butterflies and these gorgeous colours on the first card!

  8. Two amazing cards. Love how bright and vibrant they both are. Thanks so much for playing with us at Time Out and Fusion!

  9. Oh Jill! Those butterflies are drop dead gorgeous! What a rainbow of color! Drooling here!

  10. Your butterfly card is really adorable! I always avoid cutting tiny parts of foam tape and gluing it to delicate cut outs, but in this case I think it was totally worth it and you might just have me inspired to invest more time in playing with itty bitty sticky tapes ;o) Happy crafting, Maike
