TIME OUT #149 - Celebrations

Our TIME OUT Challenge this week is all about celebrations:

We would love to see your projects focused on this theme - and we would really love to see projects that use the "One Layer" optional twist. Our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew - they are offering the challenge winner a $20 gift voucher :)

Proud to be Sponsored by

For this challenge, we will be joined by Christine from Experiments in Craft so make sure you stop by to see her take on our Celebrations theme.

For my cards, I decided to play around with the Altenew Festive Poinsettia stamp set. The fist card I created is a one layer card. I stamped the poinsettia image and then coloured it with Copics and added a little shimmery Wink of Stella. I then added a greeting from the Altenew Build A Flower Poinsettia stamp set before masking of the flower and the top of the card to stamp a border across the bottom using an MFT background stamp. Here it is:

For my second card, I decided to do some layers so I fussy cut the flower out leaving a small white border. I die cut a frame using the Altenew Frilly Frame Die and backed it with some iridescent glitter for some sparkle. I used a SSS Fog card base and stamped a tone on tone pattern from Hero Arts onto it. I assemble the pieces using foam tape and finished it off with a Hero Arts white embossed sentiment and a piece of black and white bakers twine.

Here are the two cards side by side:

I am continuing to play around with this stamp set - I have some watercoloured projects using it on my desk right now :)

I will be entering these cards into the following challenges:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I've been playing around with this beautiful poinsettia stamp, too, and just love what you've done with it here, Jill! Both cards are gorgeous! I looked on Pinterest and Altenew and saw people coloring the "flower" leaves and the leaf leaves differently, so it was confusing. Now that I see the way you've colored yours, I think that's the right way, so thank you for clearing that up for me! I will do mine your way from now on. I also love your design layouts! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #22! Hugs, Darnell

  2. goodness these are so amazing-I love the one layer with the beautiful shading in your colouring and adore the pretty of this with the graphic border-perfection in design. Then card 2-wow-I love it-right from that gorgeous coloured base card and the tone on tone. That looks like a sparkly wreath you have layered the flower on and then to finish off with that pretty twine-another joy of a card x

  3. That's a great poinsettia stamp, Jill. And you've used it beautifully, too. When I saw your cards in the gallery, I was drawn to the stripes on your first card right away. Then, when I visited your blog, I have to say that your coloring is incredible, too. Love that rich, rich red on your second card, which is so nicely tucked into that sweet frame. Both are wonderful Christmas cards. Thank you for joining us at The Twofer Challenge! Bev

  4. Two gorgeous cards, Jill. Design and coloring is awesome. I am partial to the gray one - love the lacey circle behind the poinsettia and that bit of twine is just the perfect finish!
