TIME OUT #117 - Inspired By Words

Our TIME OUT inspired by words challenge this week is a good one:

Lots of words to be inspired by :)  - I decided to focus on the "toes in the sand" part and this is what I created (excuse the bad photography - I was having lighting issues):

I really wanted to create sandy footprints with the special sand embossing powder from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit. They are hard to see in the photo but I love how they look in real life :)  The rest of the scene was also created with stamps from the same set - I love the layered water stamps. A simple frame and sentiment to finish the card.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko - they are offering the winner an in-stock stamp set of their choice :)

We can't wait to see how you will be inspired by these words - so make sure you take some TIME OUT to play along with us.

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #116 - Be Bright

We have a really fun TIME OUT challenge this fortnight - we are challenging you to be bright:

Here is my take on bright:

I really wanted to use this light bulb stamp from SSS Watts Up? stamp set - so I stamped it repeatedly across a panel of watercolour paper in Versafine ink. I then coloured them using a variety of shimery water colours  - I love the subtle shimmer whn they hit the light. I trimmed the panel and mounted it on a black card base heat embossed with a sentiment from SSS Seeing Stars. A little strip of Tim Holtz silver glitter tape to finish off the card.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers - they are offering the winner a $20 gift voucher :)

Our guest designer for this challenge is Anila from Novel Ideas - she has some great designs so make sure to check out her blog.

So take some TIME OUT to be bright with us :)

TIME OUT #115 - Food and Drink

We have a fun challenge at TIME OUT this week:

I always find one layer cards challenging (I love dimension) but I decided to give it a go this time - here is my card:

I kept it pretty simple - both the image and the greeting are from an older MFT stamp set. I coloured the image with Copics and then added lots of glitter with Stickles and Nuvo drops.

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is Susie from Created 4 Creativity - her cards are amazing so make to check out her blog.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Birch Press Designs - they are offering a $20 gift voucher to a random entry that incorporates the optional twist.

We hope you can take some TIME OUT to join us for this challenge!

TIME OUT#114 - Photo Inspiration

For our TIME OUT challenge this week, we are asking you to create projects inspired by this picture:

So much inspiration in this picture - I thought about using that beautiful rattan texture but decided to focus on the picture above the sofa and came up with this card:

A really simple design - I used a bird from Stamplorations Trendy Birds and an embossing pen to draw the line before heat embossing in clear EP. I then used shimmery watercolours to paint the background. I ironed off the melted EP to make a smooth finish.

Stamplorations is our sponsor for this challenge - generously providing a $15 gift voucher for the winner and a gift bag of goodies for a random entry!

Our wonderful Guest Designer this challenge is Heather from Wire Wrapture so make sure you stop by to see her designs.

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT#113 - Inspired By Words

The challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT is to be inspired by the following words:

There are a lot of ways to be inspired by these words but I chose to focus on the first one: smile:

To make this card, I used one of my favourite techniques - adhering die cuts to the card base to create a background. I usually do this tone on tone - but I decided to change it up this time by using four different colours of cardstock to create an ombre effect. I think that I may have seen this done before by someone with this die but I couldn't find where - so I couldn`t reference it. The die is from Simon Says Stamp.

The greeting is from MFT - white embossed on a black die cut (also MFT) and popped up with some foam. I found a few different shades of pink sequins in my stash and added them to the card front to finish it off.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Funky Fossil Designs - Sarah is a former TO DT and she has started designing some amazing stencils - check them out here. She is offering the winner 3 stencils from her store. She is also going to be joining us as a special guest designer - so make sure to check out her inspiring designs here.

Our Guest designer for this challenge is Amanda from Diamond Lane Designs - so make sure you take a few minutes to check out her work.

TIME OUT#112 - Warm

Our challenge this week at TIME OUT is to get warm - definitely seasonally appropriate as we are starting to enjoy the summer heat :)

There are a lot of different ways you can interpret being warm - here is my take on it:

I made this card for my brother - his 40th birthday is coming up and I thought he might appreciate a funny card. I actually made the panel quite a while ago (years!) - I used yellow, orange, and red alcohol inks on a panel of glossy card stock and then added some additional alcohol ink to the panel through a TCW flame stencil. I loved the effect it created but couldn't figure out how to use it on a card until I saw the Shenanigans stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays and thought it would be fun to combine the greetings with the panel.

If you like the sentiments, that stamp set could be yours since our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Fridays, and they are offering a $25 gift voucher to the winner :)

Our talented guest designer this week is Marieke .- her cards are gorgeous beyond words so make sure you check them out!

TIME OUT #111 - Holiday Cards

We have another challenge for you at TIME OUT - we are looking for holiday themed cards with an optional one-layer twist.

These can be summer holiday themed cards - but I went with a Christmas holiday themed card:

This one started out as a one-layer but I eventually trimmed it down and put the panel. I die cut the Simon Says Heart Mandala from some freezer paper and ironed it onto some Tim Holtz water colour paper. I used my Minc for this - it works brilliantly. I then added the water colour - I used shimmer water colours (my latest obsession :) ) to add some colour to the background before removing the freezer paper mask. I heat embossed the greeting from the Altenew Peace On Earth set in silver - the greeting is God Yul which is Merry Christmas in Danish. I added a few gems for a finishing touch.

We have a great Guest Designer with us for this challenge - Ishani from Quillish is joining us - she is a regular player at Time Out and she has a fun style so make sure you stop by to see her work.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Seven Hills Crafts, a great source for craft supplies in the UK and Europe. They will be sending a goody bag to a random entry that incorporates the one-layer twist.

So take some TIME OUT and play along with us!
