TIME OUT #178 - Life in the CIty

Our final TIME OUT challenge for 2020 is a fun one - we want to see projects focused on Life in the City using an optional twist of blending or sponging.

Our sponor for this challenge is Birch Press Designs - they are offering the winner of a random draw a $20 gift voucher to their store :)

We have gone into another lockdown so we definitely won't be ringing in the new year in the city - it will be sushi and champagne at home to celebrate leaving 2020 behind us :)

For my card, I decided to use the (older) Mama Elephant Sightseeing stamp set since it makes me think of the city. I also decided to make it into a slider card - I think this might be the first slider card that I have made so it took some time to figure it all out. I did do the optional twist of sponging a cloudy background behind the bridge (hard to see in the light of the photo) using the MFT mini cloud stencil and some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The road was created using some border stamps from my stash.

And the slider reveal....

Our guest designer for this challenge is the fabulous Joy from Handcrafted By Joy - we are thrilled to have her join us :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy new year!

TIME OUT #177 - Photo Inspiration

I can't believe that we have reached our (almost) last TIME OUT challenge of 2020! This fortnight, we are challenging you to create a project inspired by this lovely festive photo:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations :)  - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gist voucher!

I took my inspiration from the colour scheme and the crystal snowflakes on the bak of the chairs in the photo. I used a mandala (not quite a snowflake) die to cut the design from a panel of taffy cardstock and then backed it with a double sided adhesive sheet so I could inlay some sparkly glitter. I added a couple of Winnie & Walter greetings, a few die cut pine needles, and some crystals to complete the desing.

Our guest designer for this challenge is the talented Vicky from Crafting Clare - we are thrilled to have her join us :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

TIME OUT #176 - Inspired By Words

For our TIME OUT challenge this fortnight, we are asking you to be inspired by the following (possibly seasonal!) words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook Designs who are offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I have to admit that I had a hard time with this challenge - I am on a holiday card roll and I don't have any holiday supplies that really fit those words. I finally dug into my stash and came up with this older Clearly Bessotted phone stamp to play on the words "rings" and "bell". I stamped the phones in a few different colours. I added some enamel dots to the centres of the phones as a fun accent. I finished the card with a big Hero Arts die cut in a silver foil.

Our guest designer for this challenge is Jenny from My Paper Epiphany - she is a regular TIME OUT player and we are thrilled to have her joing us for this challenge so make sure you stop by and check out her amazing design.

Thanks fo stopping by!

TIME OUT #175 - Quick

There is still time to play along with our current TIME OUT challenge - we want to see how you are inspired by "Quick".

Our generous sponsor, Catherine Pooler Designs, is offering the winner a $25 gift voucher :)

I am not a quick card maker - so a timed challenge was not an option for me. I decided, instead, to feature a "quick" theme in my design. I settled on this polaroid camera stamp and die set from COncord & 9th - becuase you cant get much quicker then instant!

I created the background by adhering white on white die cut "smile"s on a diagonalacross the panel. I then stamped and Copic coloured the camera and the photo. The slot die made it really easy to put this interactive card together.

TIME OUT #174 - Festivals

Our TIME OUT theme challenge this fortnight is a fun one - Festivals :) and to make it even more fun we are also challenging you to add shimmer and/or glitter to your project... spoiler alert - I used both on mine!

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is CraftTangles - they have some fabulous Diwali stamp sets that would be perfect for this theme. They are offering a $20 gift voucher to a rnadom entry that incorporates the optional shimmer/glitter twist.

When I think of festivals, I think of music so that is what I decided to focus on. I used an older MFT stamp and die set. I stamped the little mice and coloured them with Copics before die cutting them.I then die cut some frames from glitter (twist!!) paper and sponged some Crackling Campfire ink behind each frame. The frames and th emice were popped up on foam and I stamped the greeting in black ink. I also drew a border around the edge using a ruler and a Copic fineliner. Finally, I stamped some music notes  in silver ink and added some silver Perfect Pearls on top for extra shimmer (twist!!)

I hope you are inspired by our challenge and take some TIME OUT to play along with us :)

Thanks for stopping by!

TIME OUT #173 - Photo Inspiration

This fortnight at TIME OUT, we have my favourite type of challenge - photo inspiration :) Check out the pretty inspiration photo below:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew - they are offering the challenge winner a $20 gift voucher :)

I took a pretty litteral take on the inspiration photo for my project. I started with a piece of kraft card stock and used a die cut (Altenew - Delicate Mandala) as a mask before sponging some brown ink over the panel and then stamping a woodgrain (Altenew - A Walk In The Woods) over it in the same brown ink. I trimmed the panel and mounted it onto a white card base. I added some layered die cut leaves (Altenew - Garden Picks) with different heights of foam tape and then finished off with a white embossed greeting on a black carstock strip.

Our fabulous guest designer for this challenge is Rhamat from Cards and Cooking Corner - so stop by her blog to see how she was inspired by this photo.

Thanks for stopping by :)

TIME OUT #172 - Breast Cancer Awareness

This fortnight, we have our annual Breast Cancer Awareness challenge at TIME OUT - we want to see your projects that give support, show encouragement, and maybe include a little bit of pink :)

Our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Friday Stamps - who have an amazing selection of both breast cancer awareness and encouragement stamps - they are offering the winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I decided to use a couple of CAS-ual Friday stamp sets for my card - I used the Peaceful Garden set to stamp the layered blooms (the centre layer is heat embossed in light pink sparkle powder) and I used  the Mon Ami set for the greeting. The one layer panel was mounted on a dark pink card base for an extra touch of pink.

Our wonderful guest designer for this challenge is Cardogram - you should definitely check out her project for this challenge - it is gorgeous!

TIME OUT #171 - Inspired By Words

We have a great TIME OUT challenge for you this fortnight - we are asking you to create a project inspired by these words:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations - they are generously offering the winner a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

I was inspired by the "champagne" part of the quote - and that means bubbles! I decided to create a "bubbly" embossed backgroung using the Stamplorations Dots All Over stencil. I added some MFT champagne glass die cuts (using vellum and glitter paper) as well as a stacked MFT Cheers sentiment. I added a white embossed Picket Fence sentiment and popped up the panel with foam tape.

We can't wait to see how you will be inspired by these words - so take some TIME OUT to join us!

Thanks sor stopping by!

TIME OUT #170 - Adventurous

This fortnight at TIME OUT, we are challenging you to be adventurous!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Funky Fossil Designs who are offering the winner a £15 gift voucher to their shop 😀

I was playing around with the Neat & Tangled Topography stamp set for my card. I stamped the map image onto some watercolour paper and then added some Tonic shimmer powders to get some different colours. I used a Winne & Walter alpha die to cut out the word adventure - stacked multiple times for dimension. The greetings are from the same Topography set, and the border stamp at the bottom is an aolder one from MFT.  The wood veneer airplane is from my stash.

Our guest designer for this challenge is the very talented Conil from WhichCraft - she is a regular TIME OUT player and we are thrilled to have her join us 😀

TIME OUT #169 - Season

We have another fun challenge this fortnight at TIME OUT - we are challenging you to create a project inspired by the theme of Season. with an optional twist of colouring.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Poppy Stamps - they are generously offering the winner of the random draw a $20 gift voucher :)

Proud to be sponsored by

For my project, I decided to use some products from our sponsor (or their sister companies) and create a winter season card. I love the look of white embossing paired with gold on kraft so that is what I went with. The large peace is from Birch Press Design - Simple Peace; each of the layers was cut from gold cardstock. I white embosed some Concord & 9th pine needles and gold embossed a small sub-sentiment onto the card panel. I also die cut a gold frame and inlaid it. The final step was cutting some poinsettias (Memory Box Circle Poinsettia Frame )from red and green card stock and layering them on top of the white embossed needles and the adhered gold PEACE die cut.

TIME OUT #168 - Photo Inspiration

Welcome to a wonderful TIME OUT photo challenge!

Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Uniko who are offering the winner an in-stock stamp set of their choice :)

Here is the card I created - I was inspired by the hibiscus and the tropical feel - all on a kraft card base like the sand in the picture. The die cuts are all from Concord & 9th and I watercoloured them all with shimmer paints - along with the background. The die cut greeting is also from Concord & 9th:

Our guest designer for this challenge is Enna - a link to her fabulous Instagram is here.

TIME OUT #167 - Inspired BY Words

At TIME OUT, we have some fabulous inspirattional words to get your crafting mojo going this fortnight :)

Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Top Flight Stamps - they are offering the winner a $25 gift voucher to their store!!!!

I decided make another slim line card for this challenge - I am really loving playing with this size. I decided to focus on the dance party portion of the words - and I thought thescute critters from Winnie & Walter (sadly, no longer available) would make a fun scene. I used an MFT die to create the "photo frames" and coloured the critters with COpics. I ink blended the card base to add a little more colour. Some foam tape for dimension, and some sequins for sparkle and I called it done :)

We are lucky to have the talented Ashwini from Experiments in Card Making joining us this week - her creations are always so lovely.

TIME OUT #166 - Peaceful

This fortnight at TIME OUT, we are challenging you to create a peaceful project - whatever that means to you.

Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook, who are generously offering the winner a $25 gift voucher :)

I find peace with hot yoga so I wanted to create a card using Stamplorations Frog Yoga. The problem I had was choosing which of the cute frogs to use on my card - so I decided to do a slimline design so that I could use three of them :) The design is very simple - I die cut three apertures in the card panel and brushed some Wild Honey Distress Ink behind the openings on the card base. The frogs were stamped and coloured using Copics and then fussy cut with a white border and adhered to the panel. I added the "namaste" sentiment from the set for a simple greeting and then used some foam tape to pop up the card panel on the base.

This stamp set has some fun greetings - so I decided to include one of them on the inside of my card - here it is:

TIME OUT #165 - Inspired By "Days Gone By"

For out TIME OUT challenge this fortnight, we are lookig for projects inspired by a "Days Gone By" theme. It woud be even better if the project you created included our optional twist of using embellishments.

Our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Friday Stamps - they are generously offering the winner of the challenge a $25 gift voucher to their store :)

For my card, I was really inspired by the snarky sentiments in the CAS-ual Fridays stamp set Frankly'isms - there are so many that I liked and that worked with the theme but I finally decided on the one below. I paired it with a an image from MFT that I Copic coloured and fussy cut - and I embellished with some gold confetti.

In hindsight, the sentiment should have been higher up and embossed in gold instead of stamped in black - but I didn't have time to redo it....

Our guest designer for this challenge is one of very talented regular players, Claire from Life on the Scrap Heap. We are very lucky to have her joining us :)

TIME OUT #164 - Photo Inspiration

We have a great photo challenge going on right now at TIME OUT and there is still time to play along. We are asking you to be inspired by this great cake photo:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Funky Fossil Designs - who have an amazing catalogue of stencils and have recently added some fabulous stamps as well.

The winner of the challenge will recieve a £15 gift voucher to the shop :)

For the challenge, I used a Funky Fossil stencil (Circle Burst Stencil) to create two different cards - each with selective masking. For the first one, I masked part of the stencil to create a white-on-white backgound with texture paste and for the second card, I inked the different circles in various colours befors addding glitter paste over the whole stencil to create a sparkly and colourful background.

These cards were so much fun to create and I hope you also have fun creating using the inspiration from our challenge! Also, make sure to  check out our wonderful GD for this challenge, Sathya from Paperie Expressions for more inspiration.

TIMEOUT #163 - Inspired By Words

We have a fabulous challenge for you this fortnight at TIME OUT - we are asking you to create a project inspired by these words from Proust:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations who are offering a $25 gift voucher to the winner :)

I took my inspiration from the "blossom" and "gratitude" portions of the quote. I coloured Stamplorations Dee"s Artsy Impression Blossom Spray #2 using my Altenew Artist Markers (my first time playing with them). I fussy cut the image and added it to a card base on which I had already added an Altenew die cut panel. I finshed off the card with a foiled Spellbinders greeting and a few Hero Arts sequins.

Our guest designer this week is the incredible Trina from Phamtasic Designs!
